At the age  of nineteen, Sia was entering her 3rd year of college in pursuit of fulfilling her dream of becoming a pediatric physician when the sudden acute brain hemorrhagic stroke occured.

  

To keep Sia's dream alive, in December of 2011 the Sia Yorker Brain Awareness Scholarship Foundation, Inc. a 501c3 tax-exempt organization was founded.

One of the goals of the Sia Yorker Brain Awareness Scholarship Foundation Inc. is to award scholarships to deserving, underserved Central Florida graduating high school seniors who will be full-time students in an accredited Florida College or University pursuing Medical Science Degree.

During 2012-2023, the Sia Yorker Brain Awareness Scholarship Foundation, Inc. awarded scholarships to 63 students ranging from $500.00-$1,500.00 during the Sia Yorker Medical Science Scholarship Banquet & Silent Auction Fundraiser  held annually in March.
